Ridge Creek School Students Hike to Raven Creek Falls

Term break is upon us here at Ridge Creek School.  A few of our students stayed with us, so we have been keeping them busy with hikes, tubing, rock climbing, and other adventures.  These are a few photos of our recent hike to beautiful Raven Creek Falls, located a short but curvy 45 minutes from the school.

Here we are, the intrepid hikers heading off into the wilderess.

The trail is a relatively easy trail and the kids quickly out-paced me.  Luckily Meridith, one of Ridge Creek's recreation staff members, was able to keep up with the kids.

One of the girls climbing up from the falls.  The kids had a great time playing in the water and climbing on the rocks.  It was a great break from hiking on a warm North Georgia day.  What we did not realize was that we had not made it to the destination falls, but were only half-way there.  The group decision was to hang out a bit, cool off, then head back to Ridge Creek School.
Raven Creek is a beautiful mountain stream.   The trail follows the creek along its descent from the falls higher up the trail.  Rocks abound, inspiring one young lady to bring home a few to set on her desk.

Congrats to one of our young men for getting a $40,000 grant to Millsaps College today which can be used over his four years at Millsaps. This is a big honor that should not go unrecognized. Congrats for all of his hard work and his accomplishment!

Ridge Creek School Accepted Into ACCE Conference

Just wanted to give everyone a quick heads up!  On Thursday, Josh Cannon, Athletic Director/Head Soccer Coach/Assistant Basketball Coach and Blake Nash, Recreation Coordinator/Assistant Head Soccer Coach/Head Varsity Basketball Coach traveled to Atlanta to attend an Athletic Director’s meeting for the ACCE Conference (Atlanta Conference of Christian Educators). This conference as of now consists of sports such as Volleyball, Basketball and Cross Country.  This past year we were provisionally put in the conference, playing sports such as Cross Country and Basketball, and pending good behavior and maintaining a schedule without cancelling or forfeiting games, we would hope to become a full member this upcoming year.  To become a full charter member, we had to pass a majority vote at this meeting.  Unanimously we were voted in the conference and were praised many times for our good behavior throughout the year.  Thanks to everyone, especially the students of this past year for giving future Ridge Creek Students a conference to play in for these sports and possibly a state title to win.

In June, we are hoping to get good news from the AAC, Atlanta Athletic Conference, on our membership status.  This would give us a full fledged conference for every sport to compete in, in hopes of winning a State Championship.
